There are also more than 2,000 magazines providing explosives with a capacity of 7,685,000 square feet. The depot is staffed federally, including one soldier and 29 Department of Defense civilians to supervise contractors working at the depot.

It was also a perfect place for warm weather training. NV has two airports and a navy base. No other military service has a military presence in Nevada. Nellis AFB is used for air combat training and has a daily population of over 10,000 military and civilian personnel.

NAS Fallon hosts joint military and international training. The remote location can make the job difficult for some, but for those qualified for a remote role, the job is prestigious.
Commercial taxis, shuttles, or other commercial transportation are available but will cost up to $100 to get from the airport to the base. Remember to write down such expenses and save all receipts for registration in the passport.
Buildings in these areas are important because they are constructed as duplexes and the entire system of trusses allows the removal of interior walls without damaging the structure. Many of these buildings are used for other purposes in Nevada.
There are no DoD schools located at NAS Fallon. Churchill County has only one school but seven public schools. To enroll a child in one of these schools, parents must provide proof of residency, age and immunization records.
Immunization requirements include: Nevada state law requires a child to be five years old on or before December 2nd to begin kindergarten. To start first grade, Nevada requires a child to be six years old at the beginning of the school year.
Security is still required for the 3,000 bunkers in the NAD that are provided by the US Marine Corps. During the 1930s and World War II, Marines were stationed at naval depots. They were only about 600 people, but they were chosen to control and run the center during the war.

Appointments for all ID card services must be scheduled online through the RAPIDS system. Twenty minutes are allotted for each appointment, and multiple ID cards will require multiple appointments. Travel is unpleasant and unscheduled services can lead to long waits.
The depot did not see much action until 1962. Its purpose remained the same, to acquire, refurbish or dispose of ammunition before handing it over to Allied forces. The depot served as an important military base throughout the Korean and Vietnam wars.
